Functional Medicine in Denver That Looks for the Root Cause
Personalized care using advanced testing, nutrition, lifestyle medicine and evidence-based approaches, designed to support lasting health rather than manage symptoms one at a time.
Trusted By Patients Across Colorado
Why Patients Choose Functional Medicine
Conventional medicine asks which diagnosis fits your symptoms. Functional medicine also asks what is driving them.
Managing symptoms
- Short appointments focused on the presenting complaint
- Testing ordered to confirm or exclude a specific diagnosis
- Each concern handled by a different specialist
- Essential for urgent and acute problems
Looking for the cause
- A 60-minute consultation covering history, diet, sleep and stress
- Broader testing chosen to understand how systems interact
- One written plan that connects the findings together
- Most useful for ongoing, unexplained or overlapping concerns
The two approaches are not alternatives. Many patients use both, and functional medicine is provided here alongside the care of your other physicians.

Wonderful place for when you want to stay on top of your wellness path with technologies not all doctors know about! Service (all the staff was friendly and welcoming), appointment availability, quality of treatment and equipment (top quality and technology).
The doctor was helpful, knowledgeable and kind, and the setting was relaxing and aesthetically pleasing.
Great experience, I received high dose vitamin C, IV, mistletoe, artemisinin, as well as ozone treatment... the nurses are great.
I've been going to Bionuu for about 6 months now and have had nothing but a great experience! The atmosphere is just what you want, relaxing and tranquil. Highly recommend!

How Care Works at Bionuu
Three steps from your first call to a plan you understand well enough to follow.
Book Your Consultation
A nurse reviews your history, records and family history with you first, so Dr. Simion-Rodgers is not starting from a blank page.
- 60 minutes one-on-one with the doctor
- Symptoms, full history, diet, sleep and stress
- In person at our Denver-area clinic, or by video
Complete Advanced Testing
Testing is chosen for your case rather than ordered from a standard panel, then interpreted in the context of everything else we know about you.
- Blood, hormone and toxicology panels
- Gut health and genetic testing where indicated
- Run through Labcorp, Quest and specialty labs
Receive Your Personalized Plan
A written plan you leave with, starting with two or three priorities while the full roadmap stays visible, so you always know what comes next.
- Diet, supplements, medications and in-clinic therapies
- Monthly visits with labs while a baseline is set
- Then every three to six months once stable
About three hours of our team's time sits behind that first visit. The hour you spend in the room is only part of it. The rest goes into record review, case research, building your plan, and coordinating with laboratories and pharmacies.
Meet the Doctor Behind Your Care
Every plan at Bionuu is built and reviewed by a board-certified physician who still practices in a hospital setting.

Functional Medicine in Denver: Common Questions
What is functional medicine?
Functional medicine is a systems-based approach that looks for the underlying causes of symptoms rather than treating each symptom separately. It uses a detailed health history, clinical evaluation and laboratory testing to understand how systems in the body influence one another, then builds an individualized plan from those findings.
It is the approach behind every plan we build at our functional medicine clinic in the Denver area.
How is functional medicine in Denver different from seeing my regular doctor?
Conventional medicine is essential, particularly for urgent and acute problems, and many patients use both. Functional medicine typically involves longer appointments, broader testing and a focus on ongoing or unexplained concerns rather than single-visit symptom management.
At Bionuu, that means a 60-minute consultation, testing chosen for your case, and a written plan that connects the findings together.
What happens during my first visit at your Denver-area clinic?
Before you arrive, a nurse reviews your health history, records and family history with you, so nothing is missed. Your consultation with Dr. Simion-Rodgers is 60 minutes and covers symptoms, full history, diet, sleep, stress and your goals. Testing is recommended based on that conversation, and your written plan follows once results are back.
A first visit involves roughly three hours of our team's time in total, once record review, case research, plan development and coordination with laboratories are included.
What conditions does functional medicine in Denver address?
Patients come to Bionuu with fatigue, hormone and thyroid concerns, gut health issues, autoimmune conditions, weight and metabolic concerns, brain fog, chronic inflammation, long COVID, Lyme disease and high blood pressure, among others. We also provide integrative support alongside conventional cancer care.
There is no single typical patient. Ages range from teens to eighties, with most patients between their mid-thirties and mid-sixties.
What testing is used?
Testing is chosen case by case and may include blood, hormone and toxicology panels, comprehensive gut health evaluation and genetic testing. Standard laboratory work is run through established laboratories including Labcorp and Quest, with specialty laboratories used for advanced panels.
Results guide the plan, and a core panel is repeated at follow-up visits so recommendations reflect where you actually are.
How long does the process take?
It depends on what is being addressed and how you respond. Visits are typically monthly with laboratory monitoring while a baseline is established, then space out to every three to six months once things are stable.
What are Dr. Simion-Rodgers' qualifications?
She is a physician board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, with a background in Family Medicine and Psychiatry and more than 20 years in integrative and functional medicine.
Her advanced training includes the Metabolic Approach to Cancer Practitioner Program through the Metabolic Terrain Institute of Health, advanced mistletoe training through the Physicians' Association for Anthroposophic Medicine, and ozone therapy certification through the American Academy of Ozone Therapy.
