At Bionuu Clinic, about 20 minutes south of downtown Denver, we provide integrative cancer support designed to work alongside the treatment directed by your oncology team, with attention to nutrition, laboratory findings, symptom burden, resilience and quality of life throughout your care.
Integrative cancer care refers to supportive care provided in addition to conventional cancer treatment. Surgery, chemotherapy, radiation and immunotherapy are directed by your oncology team. Integrative care addresses the areas around that treatment: nutritional status, metabolic and laboratory findings, symptom burden, sleep, stress and overall resilience during and after treatment.
At Bionuu, this care is provided by a physician can be coordinated with your existing treatment. It is not recommended as an alternative to oncology care, and it is not offered as a replacement for the therapies your oncologist recommends.
Dr. Simion-Rodgers completed the Metabolic Approach to Cancer Practitioner Program through the Metabolic Terrain Institute of Health, led by Dr. Nasha Winters, and has advanced training in mistletoe therapy through the Physicians’ Association for Anthroposophic Medicine.
At the core of our practice is a belief in empowering patients through:
Incorporating nutrition, mind-body practices, and natural supplements.
Managing cancer progression while improving resilience.
Supporting physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
We understand that cancer care extends beyond the disease itself. By addressing the interconnected systems of the body, we aim to not only manage the cancering process but also improve quality of life and restore balance.
People come to Bionuu at different points in their journey.
Some have just received a diagnosis and want support in place before treatment begins.
Others are partway through chemotherapy, radiation or immunotherapy and are managing the effects of treatment.
Others have finished active treatment and are focused on recovery and long-term health.
Bionuu works with adult patients and with all types of cancer. We do not specialize in a single cancer type. Instead, each patient’s plan is developed based on their individual case, circumstances, and needs rather than following a one-size-fits-all protocol.
Integrative cancer support is not appropriate for everyone, and some approaches are not suitable during particular phases of treatment. Whether any given therapy may be suitable depends on your diagnosis, current treatment, medications, laboratory findings and clinical evaluation.
Recommendations are made during a consultation. If a particular therapy is not appropriate for your situation, we will say so and discuss what else may be reasonable.
Directed by an MD with advanced training in the metabolic approach to cancer, who continues hospital-based clinical work alongside her practice here.

Discussing the day-to-day effects of treatment, such as fatigue, appetite changes, sleep disruption and digestive concerns.
Comprehensive testing and interpretation, reviewed at intervals so recommendations reflect where you actually are. Focuses on metabolic state, inflammation, infections, insulin resistance, toxicity, hormone balancing, immune system optimization.
Supportive approaches considered as part of a broader plan.
Supporting sleep, stress, physical adverse side-effects like nausea and appetite or other GI effects, energy, and the practical challenges of navigating cancer treatment, with attention to the individual needs and circumstances of each patient.
Ongoing review and planning for patients who have completed active treatment.
Supplements and medications are reviewed periodically and assessed in the context of your clinical presentation and laboratory results to support your progress and other health goals.
Some supportive approaches may be appropriate during active cancer treatment, while others may be better suited to a different stage of care. Timing is considered carefully and discussed explicitly as part of your individualized plan.
Supplements and medications can interact with chemotherapy and other cancer treatments as well as with supplements and medications you are already prescribed. Everything you are taking is reviewed before any new supplement or medication is added to your plan.
We ask for your diagnosis, staging where available, treatment history, current treatment plan, medications and supplements, and recent laboratory and imaging results. A nurse reviews this with you beforehand.

A written plan organized into diet, recommended testing, foundational supplements, targeted supplements and medications, in-clinic services and specialized protocols, highlighting priorities.
Monitoring is more frequent while a baseline is established and can be spaced out as the condition stabilizes. Laboratory testing is repeated at appropriate intervals to help guide your individualized plan.
Certain supplements and therapies can interfere with chemotherapy, radiation, or immunotherapy. Everything is reviewed in the context of your current treatment before it is added to your plan.
Some approaches are not appropriate during particular phases of oncology standard of care treatment or for particular diagnoses.

Mistletoe therapy is an integrative cancer therapy that has been used for centuries. It is a natural remedy derived from the European mistletoe plant and is used to boost the immune system and improve quality of life. Mistletoe therapy has been shown to have significant anti-tumor effects, while simultaneously reducing the side effects of conventional cancer treatments.

Vitamin C is an essential nutrient believed to have significant anti-cancer properties. High-dose Vitamin C therapy is administered intravenously to deliver a therapeutic dose of Vitamin C directly to the bloodstream. Studies have shown that high-dose Vitamin C therapy can improve cancer patients’ quality of life, increase survival rates, and reduce the side effects of chemotherapy.

Ozone therapy, a type of alternative medicine, directs ozone gas into the body with promising health benefits. One preferred method is Intravenous (IV) Ozone Therapy, where the ozone is directly introduced into the bloodstream. The process involves extracting a small measure of the patient’s blood, enriching it with ozone, and reintroducing it intravenously. When fighting cancer, this therapy can enhance the body’s immune response and directly damage cancer cells, serving as a vital partner in your health journey.

Electromagnetic and photodynamic therapy uses different types of energy to stimulate the body’s natural healing process. These therapies have been shown to have anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties, improve circulation and oxygenation, and boost the immune system.

Local hyperthermia is a non-invasive cancer therapy that utilizes heat to selectively target and destroy cancer cells while sparing healthy tissue and concentrating the IV therapies in the area of localized increased temperature. This innovative therapy can be used alone or combined with other treatments, depending on the tumor location.

Curcumin and resveratrol are nature’s wonders—natural compounds found in plants with complex health-promoting properties. Equally important in our therapeutic repertoire is Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA), a potent antioxidant renowned for its multi-system benefits. We use several other naturally derived components Like Quercetin, EGCG, and others
In our innovative IV protocols, we administer high doses of curcumin, resveratrol, and ALA directly into the bloodstream to harness their full therapeutic potential. This solution offers a powerful approach to enhance quality of life, reduce inflammation, and bolster immune function and liver protection.
By integrating IV curcumin, resveratrol, and ALA therapy into your personalized wellness plan, we aim to enhance your body’s natural defenses. Much like a supportive ally, this therapy stands as a testament to Bionuu’s commitment to holistic health. Together, we navigate the path towards improved wellness, stimulating feelings of empowerment and invigoration every step of the way.
